Our story
Hello, I'm Nicky and I started Angel & Dove in 2016. I haven't always wanted to work in the funeral business but life has a funny way of leading you in all sorts of directions that you never would have expected.
In 2013 I was diagnosed with cancer out of the blue and had to take an enforced 'year out' to have surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy (easier said than done when you have a 7 year old and a 2 year old still in nappies!). During my treatment I made some wonderful friends - some of whom are sadly no longer with us. I was fortunate to be given the all clear following my treatment, and as my hair grew back and life slowly returned to a new normality, I decided I wanted to do something more meaningful with my time.
Having lost some close friends, I became increasingly passionate about end of life care and the concept of 'a good death' and felt I wanted to give something back. In 2015 I became a volunteer in the Bereavement Support team at The Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, and then chanced upon a young, innovative, female-led funeral directors in South London called Poppy's Funerals who I started working for part-time. I can honestly say that it was one of the most rewarding, moving and humbling jobs I have ever had.
At the funerals I worked at, I increasingly saw that families wanted to celebrate the life of their loved one in a way that was meaningful to them and which reflected their life and passions, rather than simply buying a package with little room for creative expression or individuality.
At Angel & Dove we are passionate about creating products that enable families to celebrate and remember their loved one in a way that feels right for them. Whether it's by decorating a venue with balloons in their favourite colour, or by creating a memory table where guests can gather to share memories and stories that can be passed on to future generations... we've created a collection of thoughtful items to help make the saddest of occasions beautiful, personal and memorable.
I hope you will find something that will help to make your celebration of life, remembrance service or funeral special for you, your family and friends.
With warmest wishes,
Nicky x
